3 Below

3 Below is the sequel to the book Floors by Patrick Carmen.

This book is about two boys named Leo and Remi exploring the subbasement of the Whippet Hotel to get the money they need to pay Mrs. Sparks, the villain, at the end of the first book.

The book starts with Clarence getting married to Pilar on the roof of the Whippet Hotel.  After they are wedded Merganzer D. Whippet arives and tells them their honeymoon car has arrived and they leave.  Merganzer then walks over to Leo and Remi. Leo is Clarence's son and the current owner of the hotel and Remi is Pilar's son.  Merganzer talks for a bit and then leaves.  Remi's robot friend, Blop, tells them to go to the gift table after they eat some cake.  On the table they find a note from Merganzer telling them to get $700,000 to pay for taxes.  He also says he needs 4 floggers, a zip rope and the iron box from the subbasement. After Mr.Yancey, Mrs.Yancey and Jane Yancey arrive at the hotel and stay in the cake room, Leo and Remi take off.  The rest of the book is about Leo and Remi going into the jungle room, Dr.Flart's dungeon, and the realm of gears.

I give this book 3☆s.

Here is a link to the website.

I did not like that there were many obvious plot devices that I will not mention because they are spoilers.

Next I will reveiw the whole Fudge series in one post.

Then the Fellowship Of The Rings.

P.S. I think there will be a third book in this series out at one point.

The Moffat Museum

The Moffat Museum is the last book in the Moffat series.

The plot of this book is that Jane, Rufus and Joe are all sad that in a few weeks their older sister Sylvie is getting married.  They decide to turn the old barn in their backyard into the Moffat Museum.  The first 3 chapters are about the museum, the next 2 are about Sylvie's wedding, the 2 after that are about Jane visiting Sylvie's new house in New York, then there are 3 chapters about random adventures with the 3 remaining Moffats.

I give this 2 and a half ☆s.

Review: this book is not as funny as the other three and some of the stuff that happens would not happen in real life.

This is the last book in the series, next I'm doing the Fudge series that my brother reviewed.

Rufus M.

Rufus M. is the third book in the Moffat series.

If you remember that in the first book it is about all four Moffats, the second is about Jane, and the third is about Rufus.  This book is slightly longer then the others and a bit more comedic then the rest.

It starts out with the story of how Rufus learned to write, then there are many other short stories in the book, all focusing on Rufus.  One story is about an all girls baseball team that he joins.  One is about him finding 2 dollars in the ice (this takes place during world war II so that's a lot of money) and buying food with it.  One is about beans that he grows and they really grow a lot.  One is about Rufus and the cardboard boy, his friend/enemy going to the amusement park for free.  One is about Rufus and Jane making popcorn to make some money but instead every kid in town starts selling it too! The last story in it is about the Moffats sitting by the fire thinking about the future after the war is over.

I give this book 5☆s.

It was great and it was by far the best of the four books.

The next book I review is the finale of the series: The Moffat Museum.  It was published 20 years after the other 3, but it still takes place at the same time.

See ya!

Fudge-a-Mania

This was the third book in the Fudge series called Fudge-a-Mania by Judy Blume.

Plot:

Peter Warren Hatcher got a surprise from his brother, Farley Drexel (Fudge) Hatcher. He said he's getting married to Peter's rival, Sheila Tubman. He got even worse news from his parents, they were going on a three week vacation to Maine WITH the Tubmans.

Peter was allowed to bring along a friend though, so he chose his best friend, Jimmy Fargo. Jimmy didn't really want to go because he didn't want to be with the "queen of cooties" but Peter convinced him by saying their houses are probably separated by a forest and that his grandma could teach him how to do a handstand.

Jimmy decided to go for a week or two. Once the Hatcher family: Peter, Fudge, Tamara Roxanne (Tootsie), Warren (their dad), Anne (their mom), Muriel (grandma), Turtle (the dog), and Uncle Feather (Fudge's myna bird), got to the vacation house they noticed that it was connected to the Tubman's house (Sheila, her older sister Libby, her mom Jean, her dad Buzz, her grandpa Buzzy, and her dog Jake).

Peter thought Sheila was afraid of dogs but she claimed she only hated "big, smelly dogs." Peter didn't know what to do because he had promised Jimmy a forest in between the houses. Later on, Uncle Feather escaped his cage because Sheila opened all of the windows and Peter and Fudge needed to look for him. Peter and Fudge met Mrs. A and her grand daughter, Mitzi, on the way. Fudge and Mitzi became best friends.

Peter was most surprised that they were related to a famous Boston Red Sox center fielder, Big Aphel (Judy Blume made this character up.) Mitzi said you could play games with him on Sundays but you had to pass the over-under test. You needed to be over four and under one hundred and four. Peter was so happy he called Jimmy to tell him. Jimmy wasn't too excited to play with Big Aphel because he struck out a lot.

Mitzi later told Fudge that she had a "monster spray" that kept away monsters. After Fudge heard that, he stopped the wedding between him and Sheila because he only wanted to get married so she could scare monsters away. There were other short stories in the book including:

Warren falling of a boat and into the freezing cold water.

Turtle getting sprayed by a skunk and wetting everybody else.

Peter falling in love with the assistant librarian, Isobel or Izzy.

Peter thinking of a toxic-gas-coming-out-of-toilets-story to tell Jimmy.

Tootsie walking around Frank Fargo's (Jimmy's dad who is an artist) painting and giving him a new art series called "Baby Feet."

Fudge eating tons of blueberries and getting sick.

Peter swallowing a fly and becoming a member of the I.S.A.F club (I Swallowed A Fly club.)

Fudge's team getting creamed at the Sunday Baseball game.

Fudge and Mitzi creating "Fudge-a-Mania" by spinning around in circles.

Fudge having Peter make him a book, "Tell Me a Fudge."

The grand finale story was that Buzzy Senior and Peter's grandma were going to get married. Peter and Sheila didn't want that to happen because that would mean they would be step-cousins. In the end, Peter and Sheila agreed that even though they were kind of related, they would still always hate each other.

There was a movie made for this book and there were so many changes and I will list some of them.

Movie Differences:

Libby did not exist.

Peter was not outside with Fudge and Mitzi when they start "fudge-a-mania"

Tootsie did not exist.

Frank Fargo basically did nothing.

On the boat, instead of Peter and his grandma being the pointers, Peter, Jimmy, and Sheila were.

After the wedding, Sheila's mom started a food fight.

I personally liked the book better. There was also an error in the movie. In the movie, Fudge and Mitzi were only four and in the book they were five, so in the movie they could not have passed the over-under test.

Review: Four stars ✩✩✩✩

The book was pretty good but there were things that I didn't quite enjoy. It was kind of cliché that Fudge was one of the team captains in the baseball game. When the "baby feet" sequence happened, I thought that Tootsie, like Fudge in the first book, got way too much attention. In the first book, Peter said that he didn't believe in cooties and he did in this book.   Super Fudge was my favorite of the books so far but maybe Double Fudge will surpass that.

Bye!

Oh, and here's a link to the Movie.

The Middle Moffat

This is a review of the sequel to The Moffats.  It is called The Middle Moffat.

If you read my review of the first book you might remember that it focused on all four Moffats, well, not this one.  This one was about Jane and the oldest man in Cranbury.

In the first chapter, Jane was thinking about how she does not have a nickname.  Sylvie was the oldest, Joe was the oldest son, and Rufus was the youngest.  Jane wanted to be called the middle Moffat and tried it out when a girl named Clara and her brother Brud walked down the street and she introduced herself to them.

They run away because they thought that Jane was weird.  Then the oldest man in Cranbury walked by and Jane introduced herself as the mysterious middle Moffat.  The oldest man pretended to be a detective and Jane decided to help him live to be 100 years old.

There were many chapters in the book that were not about the oldest man including: Jane saving tons of roller skates, Jane pretending to be Santa to save Rufus from being disappointed, and Jane winning a basketball championship game.
At the end the oldest man turns 100 and tells Jane he will am for 200.
I give this book 3stars.

I think there should have been more Joe in the story.
