The Mysterious Benedict Society

This is a review of The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart.

Plot:
Once upon a time, there was an orphan called Reynard Mudloon, Reynie for short. One day, in the orphanage, Reynie read a headline that said, "ARE YOU A GIFTED CHILD LOOKING FOR SPECIAL OPPORTUNITIES?" In order to fine out, you needed to go to a building and take a quiz. Reynie's tutor, Miss Perumal, let him go. Reynie was pretty smart. He was the only one that passed the first stage of the test. He would go against other kids who passed the first stage in other places. He was the only one who passed that one too. Before going to the third stage of the test, he met up with two other kids, Sticky Washington (his real first name is George), and Kate Wetherall. When the three of them pass the last stage of the test they meet up with another kid named Constance Contrary. The person who put up the signs, Mr. Benedict, told them that there's an evil institute where the leader was attempting to control people's minds and rule the world. He said that kids can only stop them so he he sends them in as students because the institute tries to have kids join by making their base a school. They gather clues and are able to stop the institute and it's leader, Mr. Curtain.

Review: 4 1/2 stars ★★★★♦

It was good, it was funny, but it was too depressing at times. I will definitely read the second, though.
